Haleigh Q & A

Haleigh Penner

Favorite thing to eat? Cinnamon Buns, or lattes – I know you don’t eat lattes but It’s one of my more prominent food groups so I think it’s worth a mention.

Favorite clothing store? Currently Asos, they have a great maternity section & you don’t have to spend the big bucks 🙂

Favorite movie? The Revenant, but I could also watch pretty woman anytime anywhere!

Favourite place to visit? Napa Valley, It’s seriously a magical land!

Ideal date? For me, I’m not a big grand gesture romantic kinda girl. My perfect date is take -out food, wine and a movie in bed with Dev 🙂

Biggest pet peeve? My husbands hair sheds like a mother so it’s always all over our shower and bathroom. I literally want to shave his head! I also hate repeating myself.

Favorite baby clothing? Zara baby, I’m not a big spender but their look book gets me every time! Usually I buy off their special prices section.

Makeup Must have? I used to wear more makeup, but find it so time consuming and during my pregnancies I’m allergic to everything! I recently got eye lash extensions to make up for the lack of mascara and it made a world of a difference!

Favourite book? I love reading, If I could have more time for anything it would be reading! I love a good book and a latte in the morning! I’m currently reading Bringing up Bebe and I love it! It’s made me laugh out loud so many times!

Where would you like to go in the world? I really want to visit Bali, and I would love to spend some time in Africa!

What’s on your bucket list? I’ve always wanted to milk a cow, although I doubt it’s as exciting as I think. I would also love to go sky diving but I’m a big baby and would probably pee my pants.

Favourite piece of jewelry (other than wedding ring)? Devon had a ring custom made as a gift for my first Mother’s Day. It’s a dainty gold band with a small diamond covered “O” (for Oakland). It’s so special to me!

Favourite scent? Currently obsessed with Lazy Sunday Morning by Maison Margiela.

Best compliment you’ve ever received? Probably when my Husband tells me I’m a good mom, sometimes I need that reminder!

What cheers you up? Devon can always cheer me up and Oakland gets like some 6th sense when I’m having a rough day and usually gets extra cuddly. Worship music always puts me in a better mood as well! I’m really into Elevation Worship right now.

Is there anything that you constantly lose? My husband would say everything. Pregnancy brain is a very real thing. Over the past two months I’ve lost my drivers license, my debit card, my credit card, my passport, my house key, my phone, I literally just lost a T – shirt that I just wore the other day. I don’t even know where it could be, I don’t go places and change my clothes?!

Favourite season? Fall and Winter for sure! I’m not a big summer girl unless I’m on Vacation.

If you could hire someone for something what would it be? Someone to deep clean my house once a week, and preferably do my laundry too! Once I start cleaning, I have this need to wash and scrub every nook and cranny, every speck of dust drives me nuts!

Favourite clothing item? My leather jacket. Even if I wear a hideous outfit and I throw my leather jacket on, I can feel socially acceptable again!

Biggest fear? Failing my kids, which I know I will. But failing them in a massive way would seriously suck.

How many kids do you want? If kids didn’t cost so much dang money, I would love to have like 5 or 6. I feel like I can relate to Melissa McCarthy in bridesmaids when she’s stealing all the puppies. Except I want all the babies. But my husbands super lame and wants a “calm life” (what’s that about?) If I could end up with 4 that would be ideal.

First thing you do when you wake up? Ideally go back to sleep. If not we grab Oaks and bring her into bed with us where we usually play music for her morning dance session.

Guilty pleasure? When I’m pregnant a good glass of red wine. I know I know shame on me, but I’m European like that.

Hardest thing about being a mom? For me I find it really hard to balance all the things I need to get done, and just being present/ playing with Oakland. I’m pretty bad at it actually. Typically I’ll spend a whole day just playing with Oakland & enjoying her and then the next day I’m trying to make up for it and get everything done. It’s a work in progress.

Biggest goal? I have so many goals I don’t know how to say what is the biggest. But a bigger one is eventually down the road when my kids are older I would love to do missions somewhere for an extended period of time with my family. Even if it was just for a summer or something, I would love to raise my children to have that kind of rewarding and life changing experience.
