My sister got married this weekend and two weekends ago I flew out to Calgary for her stagette! It was such a great time and it was so great to celebrate her!
While I was there I got to chat with one of her friends about infertility stuff (she also has a blog here). It was so helpful, because I don’t have friends who are going through this and it’s really nice to be able to share some experiences and advice. She ended up having two babies through IVF (in vitro fertilization), but it took her a while to figure out what was going on with her and her husband. As I talked with her I quickly realized that I haven’t been very hardcore about the whole thing and started to mildly freakout about the long road ahead.
I had an appointment with my doctor to chat with her about expediting the process. Thankfully, she said that she can book me into a new fertility clinic where I don’t have to deal with that specialist that was so terrible (you can read more about that here). She said I would need to have Benton checked first before she can refer me.
As soon as I got home I booked Benton’s appointment to get him checked. Just a little FYI, if you are going through fertility testing, make sure to book your man’s appointment sooner than later! My city had a backup of THREE MONTHS to book an appointment and another 2 months to get the results. I literally couldn’t believe it.
Since then I’ve been researching IUI (intrauterine insemination) and IVF. I had NO IDEA that it was so freaking expensive. I mean, I had heard about it before, but I didn’t think it costed a small fortune. Also, the thought of them inseminating me like a cow weirds me out, but at this point- whatever.
At this stage, I am starting to get more serious about everything. I will continue to do the naturopath thing, which seems to be working well, but I am also going to hit up some clinical doctors to do some more testing.
